Town Council Approves Kroger Expansion Plans

The Flower Mound Town Council approved Kroger to spend more than $14 million in the expansion of its store located at the southwest corner of Cross Timbers and Long Prairie Roads. Along with the renovations, the project is expecting to bring an additional 80 jobs to the community and add approximately 20,000-square feet of shopping space.

“As a Fortune 500 company, Kroger has many choices when it comes to selecting stores to invest in and I’m glad Flower Mound was one of those locations,” said Flower Mound Mayor Tom Hayden. “Our residents should be excited as this is one of many projects this council will deliver to our Town. We are fully committed to economic development and growing the employment and commercial tax base in Flower Mound.”

Store improvements will include a new natural foods department, bakery department, cheese and olive island, upscale wine area, pharmacy with a drive-through, and express checkout area. Kroger also plans to expand the deli and fresh sushi departments as well as make structural changes such as wider aisles and renovations to the exterior of the store. In addition, a five-pump fuel center with two electric car-charging stations will be built. Construction is anticipated to start this year and will be complete within nine to twelve months after work begins.
